Crafted with Colour, Shared with Soul
Meet the Artist
Flora Bell
I was born in Tatarstan and spent 25 years living in the Arctic Circle before settling in the UK in 1999. My career as an environmental consultant took me across continents — from frozen tundras to desert landscapes, from the North Sea to the Black Sea — deepening my appreciation for natural ecosystems and the quiet, powerful forces that shape them.
A decade ago, I turned to art and it has since become both a passion and a way of life. I’ve studied through various art courses and online platforms, always eager to learn, explore and grow. Fluid abstract and semi-abstract painting speaks to me because of its delicate balance between intention and unpredictability. Sometimes I’m not sure what moves me more — the meditative process of creating or the emotion I see captured in the finished piece. Both are equally alive.

I’ve long admired Watts Gallery and its celebration of creativity with purpose. After years of being a member of the Gallery, I began volunteering there and later joined the Watts Creative Circle — a vibrant group of artists united by our shared respect for the vision of “Art for All.” It’s a place of warmth, dialogue, and inspiration, which continues to shape me and my art.
I also love working on commissioned pieces — taking time to understand someone’s story, space, and style, then creating something that feels personal and meaningful. My aim is always to enhance a home not just visually, but emotionally.

At its heart, my work is about connection — to nature, to people, to the moment. I believe what we put into the world comes back to us. That’s why I strive to live and create with care, empathy and intention. My art is a quiet offering of those values — a way to bring beauty, peace and presence into the spaces we inhabit. Like the natural world, life is always shifting — bright one day, stormy the next. But within that change, I find a deeper rhythm, a sense of balance and quiet forward movement. My paintings echo this, capturing fleeting moments through colour, texture, and flow — where harmony and tension meet, and something meaningful takes shape.
